Fifth graders learned about the history of Appalachian Face Jugs. These Jugs were constructed in the southern United States to hold medicine and other materials. The “silly” face was meant to scare away children so they were not tempted to play with the jug or the materials inside.

Our fifth graders did a great job using sculpture and glazing techniques to construct their jugs.
