Fourth graders chose a Virginia Region to feature in a painting. They then used painting techniques to create the illusion of depth in their landscapes. Students had to choose from the following regions: Blue Ridge, Valley & Ridge, Appalachian Plateau, Piedmont, or Coastal Plains. Can you guess which region they selected?
Great job 4th grade!
Fifth graders read the book “Snowmen at Night” by Mark & Caralyn Buehner. They then used shading techniques to draw snowmen at night using chalk pastels. Students used their fingers to blend some of the shadows. I love how festive these turned out! Great job 5th grade!
Second graders discussed what they might find in a city and observed several images of cities around the world. Then they drew detailed urban landscapes with crayons and used colorful watercolors on top. This is called a watercolor resist.
The second graders put a lot of thought into their cities and it shows! Great job!
Ms. Lopez and I were so thrilled to receive a NEW 3D display case from last years 6th grade class!! The case was much needed as we did not have a place to display 3D artwork on the second floor of our school. There are several shelves to display student work now and it’s placed near the elevator so a LOT of people are able to view the amazing artworks are students create. We cannot say thank you enough!!
Hopefully you’re able to stop by VRES and view the new display case. Currently it holds 5th grade Global Hero masks.
